The case: a 17 years old patient had been diagnosed with a spinal tumor. Surgeons resected the vertebrae and replaced it with a custom titanium cage, designed according to patient’s specific anatomy and manufactured by STI Laser Industries.

The surgical procedure: Dr. Lador used anatomical 3D printed plastic models which illustrate the patient’s anatomy while precisely identifying the tumor location. These models are extremely helpful when planning the surgical procedure as they aid the physician in the visualization of the anatomical positioning. Once the surgical approach was determined, the actual implant was designed by Avail – a team of highly experienced consultants, in collaboration with Dr. Lador.
The implant: a customized implant was manufactured by STI, using EBM (Electron Beam Melting) technology that provides a unique implant surface for improved osteointegration.

The entire operation was successful – the procedure went well and the patient is in good condition.
