STI's manufacturing facility - construction progress

Turnkey manufacturing - STI signed a turnkey manufacturing contract with a medical device company to manufacture their surgical instrument. The project entails purchasing of raw materials, quality assurance, metal part manufacturing, laser cutting, surface treatments, laser welding, clean room mechanical assembly of electro-mechanical components, packaging and shipping for sterilization.

Fluidized sand bath - STI has acquired a new precision fluidized bath that offers exceptional temperature stability, uniformity, and heat transfer - making it the instrument of choice for shape-setting of miniature Nitinol components. In a typical process, the part is immersed in the bath for merely 2-3 minutes followed by quenching in a cold fluid. This new instrument shall be used to accelerate STI's prototyping activities, as well as, offer a highly reliable shape-setting tool for processing Nitinol products.

Large capacity furnace - STI has begun test runs of its new vacuum furnace system designed for annealing and shape-setting heat treatments. This system will enable heat treating large batches for serial manufacturing. The large heated chamber maintains temperature uniformity of ±2°C throughout the effective volume and enables treatment of several hundred units at the same time. Each process run is fully recorded and documented. The validation process (IQ / OQ / PQ) of the system is expected to be completed in April 2011.

Corner stone ceremony - Mr. Tovy Sivan, CEO and President of STI Laser Industries, laid the foundations for constructing STI's standalone, 3,000 square meters modern manufacturing facility. The corner stone ceremony was conducted in the presence of Or Akiva's Mayor, Mr. Simcha Yossipov, business partners, colleagues and employees of STI.
The video on the right provides an artist rendition simulating the architectural plans. The new facility will have a dedicated R&D and prototyping area separated from all other manufacturing activities. Entrance is expected by 2012.
